Pastor Mike was born and raised in Zeeland and is passionate about advancing the gospel in this community. One might say he’s been feeling the zeel long before that became a slogan. He grew up in a loving Christian home and sensed his need for Christ at an early age. However, the gospel really started to explode in his heart as he learned the depths of his sin, the holiness of God, and the sheer mercy of the cross.
After graduating from Zeeland High School in 1999, he attended Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA before sensing the call to pastoral ministry. He attended Westminster Seminary California, during which time he met his best friend and wife, Naomi. Since then, the Lord has taken them to Ripon, CA where Mike served as an associate pastor at Zion United Reformed Church and to Alto, MI where he served as senior pastor of Grace United Reformed Church for ten years before being called as a church planter of Harvest OPC in October 2018. Mike and Naomi have four children: Sadie (11), Eli (8), Lydia (5), and Titus (3).
Pastor Mike is amazed by God’s grace in his life, and is humbled to have the opportunity to plant a vibrant, Reformed, multiplying, and gospel saturated church in the town he loves. In addition to preaching the gospel, his interests include: spending time with his family, cheering for the Michigan Wolverines, and frequenting Chick-Fil-A.
